Who says that life goes downhill after you turn 60? What if you changed your perspective and saw this change as a new beginning? By now, you may be someone’s father or grandfather. You have done your job as a parent and now it’s your kids’ turn.

When you reach that sweet 60+, you start trying to fulfill your bucket list, thinking it’s now or never. And getting fit at 60 plus gives you the opportunity of living a longer and healthier life. Let’s shake your routine up a bit shall we?

Following are a few tips that will help you live your life to the fullest after 60.

1. Get Your Priorities Straight

Let’s assume that your priority at 60+ is to get more exercise, but you can’t seem to convince yourself to step foot out of the house. Here’s an idea: why not do something you like? Exercise can be any physical activity such as dancing, camping, fun games, etc. Anything that gets you off your feet and makes you sweat should suffice.

2. Dress the Part

Dressing the part will definitely do you good. Just like Penny said in Big Bang Theory, “When I am stressed, I go out and buy a cute top or skirt and… I have a whole new outlook on life.” Another way is to lay out tomorrow’s clothes, and you will wake up in the morning with the anticipation that today is going to be a good day.

3. Eat at Home

Eating at home when adopting the “getting fit at 60 plus” lifestyle is not about consuming microwave food. It’s about eating a balanced and nutritious diet and avoiding processed foods and sugar. The greener your plate, the healthier the meal! Include lots of fruits and vegetables in your meal. To avoid the ailments that accompany 60+ people, eat a diet rich in omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin D, and protein.

4. Make Small Changes

Embrace new things in life by letting go of the old and taking baby steps are the way to accomplish this. There are so many things in life you haven’t seen yet, so why not make a doable bucket list like waking up with the morning sun, doing something adventurous, or trying a new food item? These adjustments will change your life for the better and make you yearn for more.

As long as you are happy, you will be able to accomplish just about anything. They say a happy person is one who lives longer and a more satisfied life. In fact, it has also been proven by numerous studies that older people have a shot at living longer, only if they lead a happy life. Does getting fit at 60 plus now seem a hard goal for you to achieve? We didn't think so either! Here's to your health and happiness!
